My weight? - oh my! My weight has been ‘over weight’ for ever!
It started when I was a baby. My mother blames the social worker
insisting that she woke me for a feed…….then it never stopped! My
mother also recalls me (having) to go on my first diet at the age
of about 12 - and I don’t think I have ever stopped. My whole life
has been spent yo - yoing up and down, up and down and the up was
always greater than the previous time. There would be period’s
in-between when I was lighter - but then I would always end up
putting on more weight than the last time. So my attitude to
life would vary - I would be active during my thinner periods,
enjoying such activities as tall ship sailing, yachting and walking
then as my clothes got tighter as I got bigger I would recede into
myself and start to go out less and less whilst at the same time
eating more.
This is the first time that I have broken that cycle - although I
had put a fair amount of the weight back on I still had a good 3
stone plus to go when I made the conscious decision that enough was
enough - and I have done it. Why now?……my husband (Nigel) ….and
myself. I didn’t want to get as large as I was before, I want to
look good for Nigel AND I want to be able to ride my Harley
Davidson. My bike clothes weren’t comfortable anymore, indeed I
didn’t feel comfortable on the bike full stop so last year I
managed just the one bike ride - and I love going out on a ride
with hubby. So now we can again enjoy them.
Since my weight loss I just feel 100% better and more confident. My
whole outlook on life has changed - I am out and about much more,
out on the bike when ever I can and I am sure if money was no
problem I would be clothes shopping all the time! And my hair - I
have gone blonde! I never for one moment thought that I would ever
do that as I thought I would end up looking like Diana Dors!!
All my good friends have been so supportive but in particular Nigel
has been wonderful - he hasn’t let me cook him a meal the whole
time saying it is unfair so I have not had the temptation others
have had. I have started making him treats though like chocolate
muffins - and without licking the spoon! I find that now I enjoy
the cooking for cooking sake and not just for the end result of
eating! I still enjoy my food just as before but now I buy the low
fat alternatives which I find that I now enjoy, have smaller
portions (if I cook a large amount then the extra is for the
following day) more veg and less meat. Also I now think ‘mmm…. that
would be nice, but I can always have that another day….’ so I
do.
It was my doctor that suggested Lighterlife. I am / was diabetic
and he was going to put me on medication but as I had proved I was
committed to going on a diet gave me three months to prove that I
could do it. My sugar levels have been normal now for about six
months - so no medication! He did give me the information on
various other diet programmes but this seemed perfect - I am one of
these people that find it easier to do all or nothing. I certainly
do not regret doing this programme. My only concern at the start
was how tasty would the foodpacks be - but they are great. There is
one or two that I chose not to have but the rest are delicious.
From day one - going on the food packs I have not felt hungry or
better for that matter - for me Lighterlife was the perfect
choice….and it shows! Any regrets? Yes - why didn’t I do this years
ago?!

I've been biggish all my life and am generally
a happy person but it always annoyed me that my weight seemed to be
the one thing I couldn't control. I'd lost the odd 2/3 stone here
and there (with WW!) but always put it back and then some. I'd just
never found anything that worked before or got to the bottom of why
I overate, which I now realise is something you have to understand
if you're ever to solve the problem.
I've been with boyfriend for six years and for
five of those we've been engaged. In that time many of our
friends have met their partners, got engaged and married (and even
started having kids!) but I've always held back because I never
wanted to be a fat bride. My boyfriend is lovely and would marry me
at any weight but he realised until I was happy with myself and my
weight it probably wouldn't happen. Thanks to LighterLife we are
now planning our wedding for 8th August 2009!

I finished foundation last night and just wanted to post
something I had written in my diary which sums up how I feel.
Hope it gives a little bit of umph to everyone still in
abstinence:
I woke up this morning and felt different about this diet. So
far it has all been a journey in stages and this is obviously
another part.
To start with it was all about being brave enough to do it, then
it was coping with the first week withdrawals, then the enormity of
the length of the task, then the intense emotions brought up by the
councilling, then the slight disappointment at the slightly slower
rate of loss than I was expecting, then the coping socially with
people whilst on the diet, then the frustration at the lack of food
and the hunger and cravings, then the resignation to it, then the
complete boredom with the packs.
However today I feel grateful to the diet. It is by no means the
easy option but it has fundamentally changed me in so many ways and
I am soooo grateful.
I was in a bad corner when I started this diet and had been for
a while. I had given up hope of ever being remotely slim and was
resigned to tag myself as a larger lady (the largest person I
knew). I felt isolated, frustrated, out of control, tense and had a
poor self image. I was hiding - invisible I hoped to others. I had
turned my back on the person I used to be.
This diet has not just reduced my waistline. It has empowered
me, booted me out of my hiding place, squashed me through some
difficult hoops, forced me to start thinking again - to face things
head on.
I am stronger, more relaxed, more tolerant, more focused,
calmer. I feel like I'm emerging from a misty place into a bright
sunny place.
So here's a big thanks to LighterLife.

I just love LL. It not only changed my life, but saved my life.
I am positively evangelical about it!
August 19th marks one year since I
started my incredible journey. It has in deed been amazing. I feel
I have grown so much as a person in this year & all the
problems & issues, health wise & emotionally, which were
centered around food & eating have melted away.
I love food now - it is not the enemy. It is
a friend who gives me great fuel to do good work! I feel alive. I
am an achiever. I realise now that I was living a half life....i
will never say anything bad about my larger self & I feel no
shame - why should I? I am who I am. It was me, but this is me now
& who I want to be for the rest of my life.
My skin is clear, I sleep less. I love
cooking & creating. I go on the trampoline, I run on the
treadmill, I never take the lift, always take the stairs. I love my
bike. I love wearing trousers cos I look really good in them
I love my reflection. I love
how youthful & fit I feel. I love going in to a shop & not
being able to find anything that fits me - not because I am too
big, but now I am too small lol.
It is far, far, far more than just weight I
have lost...I have lost the shackles.
One year on is a time of great reflection
for me. I am eating very normally...thinking very normally. I am
the person I always wanted to be...that slim, self assurred woman
who never weighs herself and eats what she wants because she knows
it is about balance. She can tell by her clothes if she needs to
cut back and she never has to. I love that.

“I'm on week 5 of Lighter life and I've lost loads
of weight already, I feel really good with loads of energy, my skin
is great and I'm sleeping well. I'm very passionate about the
difference Lighter Life has made to my life, after being overweight
for 11 years."

I wanted to drop you a line, and tell you how
fantastic I think your programme is!! I've been on it for four days
and already lost a lot of weight!
When I was starting the programme I was
looking for inspiration, after looking in numerous supermarkets for
your magazine without any luck I eventually found it in
WHSmith's!
I couldn't really find any diaries of feelings
and experiences on the programme, so I have created a blog. It is
mainly to give me inspiration and others if they think it will
help!

Just a note to let you know:
I am only just over 1 week into my lighter life diet and I feel
fantastic. I woke up this morning at 7.30am jumped out of bed
feeling healthier and more "alive" than I have done for longer than
I care to remember.
I already fit into clothes that I haven't been able to wear for
quite some time.
Thank you LighterLife
I have even thought of a little slogan you may be able to
use.
The weekly fee seems a little expensive before you start with
Lighter Life, but, after the first weeks weight loss I got to
thinking, what other ways can you lose weight so effectively for
that kind of money? Hire yourself a personal trainer? I Don't
think so........... Hire yourself a "live in" dietician who will
prepare all your meals for you (as well as doing the dreaded weekly
supermarket trip) Don't think so either but
wait.....................actually I do! I have my very own "live
in" chef who has prepared my meals for me and taken away all the
stress of meal times, shopping, standing in food aisles (surrounded
by items you don't want to look at ) with my calculator working out
calories and saturated fats. What an absolute bargain and as an
added bonus it frees up loads of time to do things I actually
enjoy.
I appreciate that men and women with families will still have to do
the supermarket trip but buy what you have to for your family and
get out of there, or if poss get your partners to do it !!!
Finally slogan? "Chef in a Sachet"
Best wishes and thanks again for what seems like (in my short
experience) the best way to diet EVER!

I have been on the Lighter Life programme since April. I think
the programme is just fantastic! I feel so much better now!
I attend meetings in London. I just wanted to
let you know that my counsellor is just fantastic!!!! She is really
encouraging, supportive, very friendly and makes you feel
really at ease since the first meeting we had. She is a credit to
your company! If all your counsellors are like her, no doubt the
program has a high success rate!
